Claire grew up, and still lives, near Hexham in the Tyne Valley area of Northumberland. It was here where her affinity for horses began, having been around them all her life. She acquired her first pony at the age of about six, and has since moved from a 12.2hh to 17hh! She currently owns two horses. One is a 17hh Irish Draught x Thoroughbred, with the other being a retired thoroughbred. Needless to say, her favourite subject to paint is horses, and inspiration is never far away.
Claire went to Newcastle University and completed a degree in Business Management. Following this, she worked with horses for a year before deciding to concentrate on painting full time. The work is mainly in acrylic, because of its vibrant and strong colour, and yet it dries very quickly. She paints at the moment, in the dining room at home, and constantly has new pieces on the go, often up to six at a time.
